Land acknowledgment

I am grateful for being part of the ecologically, culturally-rich and diverse ecosystems of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. These lands and waters are a meeting place for many people, including its custodians, other indigenous tribes, and immigrant settlers like myself. I acknowledge the injustices created by the complex history of settler colonialism, which has led to disparity, inequity, and systemic violence. These conditions continue to create illness in our society today. I strive to stay aware of the ongoing effects of colonialism, and my participation in it. Awareness begins the path towards healing, both of our physical-emotional-spiritual selves and the intergenerational and ancestral wounds that we each carry with us. Only then, can we return to collective wellbeing and wholeness.
